A set of Printer Calibration files to be used with the QuarkXTras SuperXTension. These have been developed for a Linotronic L300 or L500 to accomodate dot gain on a printing press. They are named for what they do. For example, 133/20 calibrates the output of QuarkXPress to produce 133 lpi screens, modified to accomodate a 20% on-press dot-gain. It's very important to check the proper box in page setup when you use these files. For Positives, check paper. For Negatives, check film.
NOTE: if you are generating negs, it is important that the negatives be made by checking the Invert and Flip Horizontal boxes in Page setup, instead of relying on the Lino to generate the negs. Otherwise, you will get exactly the opposite of your intended effect.
To use any of these, simply open the Printer Calibration utility, found oddly enough under the Utilities menu in QuarkXPress. Then import the one you want.
IMPORTANT: Once you have imported one of these files, QuarkXPress remains modified from that point on UNLESS YOU RESET the curve. If you are sending these to your service bureau, make certain that you tell them to RESET when your job is done. If not, all screens that are produced will be affected by the curve that they loaded for you.
REMEMBER... this calibration affects the application, not the document, so WARN your service bureau (if they don't already know)
